reddog
Here is something that may save you a bunch of problems. If you are thinking of responding to an ad in classifieds or the wanted forum, it only takes a second to click on the sellers name a view his/her profile. If a person wants to sell you something, but is not willing to put basic info in thier profile, BEWARE!!! 1 Quote Link to comment
Don Finger
Reddog, I'm with you. Anybody that can't be found, at home, in their back yard is hiding something. Quote Link to comment
RamMan
Very, very true! I would expand that to anyone who comes on SDC and says something controversial or knocks someone's dogs. Quote Link to comment
TreeLuke
I guess I'm the only one that disagrees with this but everyone who posts without a complete profile is not trying to cheat somebody. If it's a rule it has to be filled out to post on classifieds so be it. I'm not saying that nobody is using that ploy but a lot of you think everyone that don't have it filled out is. I guess some think having yours filled out is a free ticket to controversy. If they don't have it filled out and you disagree with that then ignore them and don't do business there. That's not that hard to do. I joke about curs but have never singled out any dog to trash that I can remember but everyone seems to worry about the new guys knowing the truth but if only good is spoken about dogs then I'm not sure we are doing them right. I also noticed that guys seem to prefer what they happen to have, hard barking, light barking, big dogs, little dogs, long ranging, close hunting, ill dogs are just being protective or just mean according to who you ask. Then there are cold nose, hot nosed, tight mouth, open track, etc...etc... Some guys learn what they like and that's why they have that type dog but I think some have a certain type so that's what they defend. OK I'm off topic now. IMHO. Blast away! reddog
I didn't post that to be controvercial. It's pretty hard for me to get serious about buying anything from someone I don't have a bit of knowledge about. Quote Link to comment

nccatfisher
I think that there should be a basic amount of information required to post in classifieds. It is pinned at the top and I think people should adhere to it. It is nice to click on a persons handle to see where they are from, but if they do not want that information displayed I respect that also. That being said, it is also my choice if I decide to do business with them, which for the most part I won't. What I don't understand is how a controversial post could throw up a warning flag. A difference of opinion does not mean that someone is not reputable. I can think of one person that probably had by far the most controversial posts on this site. He is a good friend of mine, MANY people on this board have had financial dealings with him, and no one has ever said a word about his honesty. Tim Quote Link to comment
Guest forrunner
the main thang is to be able to disgree but not get disgreeable, I think it ought to be that you half to at least post. (1) NAME. that would tell people who you are and may give any ?? about your past (2).STATE.You live in. So people can make their mind up before calling you if it's to far to drive. (3). BREED. OF DOG OR DOGS. That would let them know the breed their looking for. (4) PH. NUMBER. So they can get in touch with you if they want. I AM NOT A BRAIN BUT THAT WOULD GIVE ENOUGHT INFO. ON SOMEONE TO GET A DEAL STARTED. LEAVE THE REST TO THEM IF THEY WANT IN THEIR FILE. BUT THE FOUR ABOVE MUST BE REQIREED I THINK.( Forunner) JUST A THOUGHT. Quote Link to comment
mr cool
<_< I THINK WHEN ANYBODY HAS A ITEM FOR SALE THAT IT WOULD BE COMMON COURTESY TO AT LEAST PUT AND E-MAIL ADRESS , STATE , AND IF THEIR NOT GOING TO POST A PRICE, BE REQUIRED TO LEAVE A CONTACT NUMBER. THOSE PEOPLE THAT GET ON HERE AND POST SOMETHING AND ONLY WANT TO COMMUNICATE BY PM , AND WILL NOT RESPOND TO REPLYS FOR DAYS, SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO KEEP POSTING IN THE CLASSIFIEDS. JUST MY OPPINION. MR COOL. Quote Link to comment

[/quote there could be other reason s why people dont give exact info on where they live==and it dont have any thing to do with dogs are being dishonest===it could be to protect thier wives, children, family, etc===some men work away from home and arent at home very often====we are on the world wide web and we must keep this in mind===i could say alot more about this subject ==but its my hopes that everyone will take a close look at what giving out too much personal info on the w.w.w. could cost them==things like birth dates in NO inhance a conversation about squirrel dogs . SongmanScott
I didn't post that to be controvercial. It's pretty hard for me to get serious about buying anything from someone I don't have a bit of knowledge about. Well I saw this - thought about it for 10 seconds and then I subscribed and put as much as I could out there about me. EVEN though I am not selling a thing - I am new here to this forum and I want to make sure that I get off to a good start. I have been inpressed with the honesty of everyone that I have checked in on... However, a reference check is always a good thing before buying and the more info that is out there the better... Sooo - Be a good Idea if they just followed the examples set by others.... 1 Quote Link to comment
Tuff-E-Nuff
Don't really matter if you put your phone number or not cause 2/3 of the people will try to buy it using PM's, I recently put a rifle on Classifieds and got over 10 different PM's asking me all about it , would I take less and etc. instead of picking up the dang phone and calling However I agree that there should be curtain things filled out in your profile in order to post in Classifieds. I disagree that since some don't fill in all the blanks then they have something to hide. Quote Link to comment

bocephus
I am also new here and I believe that a classified should include some information on location as well.It lets the buyer or person interested in buying know how far the dog or etc.is from them. Its just common sense to me.Doesnt have to be address, but city, state and a phone number is nice to know. Chief
Wouldn't it make sense to set up a template for the for sale page where certain required info has to be entered in order to post? Sure makes sense to me. What gets posted can be wild. JMHO Quote Link to comment
Chief
With all the stolen dogs this year, would it be possible to mandate ALL for sale dogs must have pictures of the dog standing up both left and right side. Might help recovery and stop resale avenues for thieves. Edited January 29, 2016 by Chief Quote Link to comment
